Unlike the traditionl approach, aimed at the treatment of the deep layers of the skin to contrast the different inflammatory processes, the “corneotherapy”is targeted to the skin surface treatment. The skin irritation is treated by restoring the functions of the statum corneum.
If the activity of the stratum corneum is compromised, the same is no longer able to carry out its specific functions, in particular the correct physiological desquamation and effective protection of underlying tissues (barrier effect). The most common problem of this alteration is represented by various forms of dermatitis, often marked by the presence of:
- Blistering lesions
- Erosions caused by scratching
The corneotherapy restores the normal structure of the stratum corneum, replenishing the water content, the electrical environment, the regular arrangement of mature corneocytes and lipids intercorneocitari. This removes the changes of the underlying layers without the use of drugs.
